Vintage enamel canister used in the kitchens and pantries of European households.  These canisters would have been used to store everything from flour and tea to sultanas and sago.  Enamel canisters became an Edwardian alternative to the stoneware jar. Apart from being lighter to carry, they were far more likely to survive the rigours of a busy kitchen as they didn’t shatter on a flagstone floor.

Enamel canisters, teapots, pans etc were originally produced in the United Kingdom with Poland taking over most of the production in the 1960s. With cream and white being the usual colours for British enamel, the arrival of the vibrant colours from Poland in the sixties was hard to resist.

These canisters are 400mm high, 380mm dia at the base and 280mm dia at the top.

You could use these to store dry goods in your pantry, hide your dog/cat biscuits in them, a pot plant, or a place for your kitchen utensils. Please note these canisters may not be watertight.

Being authentic vintage and as we have multiple of this product there may be slight variations from the picture shown.
