These clocks were widespread in the former Soviet Union (USSR) during the 70s/80s communist ērā and were made by Strela, a Soviet timepiece manufacturing company. (STRELA in Cyrillic alphabet = СТРЕЛА = arrow). This clock comes with original documentation as shown with translations in the photos.
The clocks were used in the corridors of administration buildings, factories, schools, waiting rooms, railway and bus stations.
These analog clocks have a beautiful simple and clean design which is easy to read and are visual masterpieces carrying a truly unique character and design that stands the test of time.
These clocks were originally ‘slave’ (or secondary) clocks which were all connected to a master clock which sent out electronic pulses every minute to control them. This system ensured that every clock in the whole building they were in showed the exact same time.
This clock has been converted to a battery mechanism which takes 1 x AA battery (not included).
